It's the imperfections in natural stone that make it truly beautiful.
We only work with solid limestone or sandstone, never cast or reconstituted stone. This preserves the delicate beauty of its natural veining and texture, the source of its charm and character.
Fireplaces made from moulds using cast or reconstituted stone are difficult to clean. Our solid stone fireplaces can be cleaned easily. We will give you some simple care instructions, to help you maintain your fireplace for the rest of your life - and for generations to come.
The mark of fine quality.
After a final quality control check, we fit each fireplace with a discreet brass hallmark, your guarantee that the most rigorous standards of craftmanship have been applied. The pieces are recorded then carefully stored in our warehouse until they're ready to be delivered and installed.
Limestone versus Sandstone.
Both neutral by nature, limestone and sandstone will compliment any colour scheme or design style. Limestone is light, creamy white in colour with a rougher texture for a softer character. Sandstone lends itself to sharper, crisper designs.
From the quarry to your doorstep.
Once you've selected your fireplace, our stonemasons will begin carving it from raw stone. From the time you place your order, you should allow an average of four weeks for your fireplace to arrive at your home or local stockist.
Adding fuel to the fire.
Different people, different tastes. We want to offer you the widest choice possible. Whichever design you choose, our fireplaces can be used with any type of approval fuel - gas, electric or solid fuel.
Here to help.
Choosing something as permanent as a fireplace can be a daunting prospect. There are may things to consider that may not have occured to you. That's why we encourage you to talk to one of our authorised stockists before making a decision. They can guide you through all the options available, and help you make the best possible choice.
A tradition of innovation.
There is a lot to be said for tradition. The methods our stonemasons use have been refined over centuries, passed from master to apprentice. But we are also commited to innovation, using the lastest developments in both production and design to ensure we're always evolving.
In the beginning.
It all begins at the quarry. Large slabs of limestone and sandstone, measuring over 3m x 2m and weighing 1500kg are shipped to us. The stone is selected for its cleaness and consistancy. We use a laser-guided machine to cut the slabs into pre-sized blanks, using water to lubricate the high speed blade.
Detailed by hand.
Our stonemasons use specialist hammers, chisels and bolsters to carve intricate shapes and patterns in the stone. An outline is traced in pencil onto the stone, then chiselled away with painstaking precision.
Every single piece of stone is measured and graded for accuracy. We assign a unique serial number to each individual piece, which we use to monitor and track them at every stage.
Accessories that suit your style.
Choosing the right accessories is another way to add your personal stamp to your fireplace. Once you've chosen a surround, you can pick and choose from a wide range of baskets, stoves, shelves, pebbles or coals - another way to create your one of a kind look.
If the standard sizes listed on this website do not fit the dimensions of your room perfectly, we can scale our designs to your exact measurements. The full bespoke service costs a little extra, but we believe that investing in details is money well spent.
